Fi-Ahhhhhhhh!

August 31, 1992

Man, another weekend has gone by! Let's see if I can wrap this summer's activities up really quick!

I was a Custodial Host and I emptied a ton of trash and swept up a lot of cigarettes. I'll never forget that experience. It was fantastic! Anyway, I already miss it all!

I went and saw the Cure, finally, at St. Petersburg. It was a wicked show! I loved Church St. and Nickel Beer night as well as Terror on Church St. and the Laughing Kookaburra and Lucy Bluz. It was awesome!
So, let's begin this semester anew! On the way back from Florida, I followed Julie and Marnette. We stopped in Hattiesburg, MS, and stayed at a sleazy Motel 6. We both got tickets for doin' 75 in a 55 in Transylvania, LA. I still haven't paid that off yet! I got back to LR, and was really bored. I bought a CD player at Circuit City in Kissimmee. Yeah! I have "Beauty and the Beast", "Even Better Than The Real Thing (REMIX)","High" and "Friday I'm In Love." Oh boy!

I got back up to Fayetteville on Thursday before school started. Since then I have been having Disney withdrawals. I've already called Laura twice! Hmmmm. We got 30 A/M's in rush so we have a lot of people and party potential. MacRae's room burned up when he left a candle on his TV and caught ablaze. The firemen all came and I think we made the paper. Who knows?

Football tickets are only $6 this year for Fayetteville games. I'm taking Lady. It's supposed to be me, Lady, her friend Jerry, Opinionated, her sister, CAS, and Royace. We play the Citadel. I have another roommate, Goodrum, who is, so far, a sloppy, drunk bastard.

This weekend, Lady and I ate at Fuzzy's, went by Sarah's to watch Ren & Stimpy with her and Pope. Then we went to a little party at Clint's and then to see Single White Female. It was pretty good!

I need to finish my scrapbook sometime. I need to go to the bank today and to get my tickets and to develop some film at Wal-Mart. Anyway, not much happenin' except that I haven't found a job! Grrr!

More as it happens!

Daddy Mac will make you...

August 27, 1992

Hello, again! Well, has any time passed since I last wrote on this thing?! I guess so! Man, so much has happened in the mere three months I was gone this summer! Where should I begin?!

I turned in all my stuff last semester and I just got my grades this past Friday. I got a 3.00 finally. The first time in my collegiate history! So, that’s an A in Advanced PR; a B in Graphics and Ad Copy/Layout and a fat C in OB. Grrrr! I’m not bitchin’ too hard though! This year I have Editing, Feature Writing, Death and Dying, Bowling, Interpersonal Communication and Promotional Strategy! Whee!

Anyway, this summer, I went back to Little Rock for awhile before I left for sunny Orlando. I was supposed to get this package from Disney before I left to tell me how to get there and what I was supposed to do once I got there, but it never arrived and I stressed a little. Then I got this phone call from this guy who told me he never received my acceptance material and wondered if I was still coming down there to co-op! I freaked! Anyway, the people from Arkansas that I met: Kelly, Julie, Leslie, Caroline, Angela and Brouke, all got their packets. So I said, “What-the-hell” and drove down there anyway! I mean, they’d have to give me a job if I drove all the way down there, right?! Anyway, I got all packed up, said my good-byes to Lady(who, might I add I am still seeing!) and shuffled off to Buffalo!

Kelly came down from Joplin the night before and spent the night at my house. We got up early the next morning (5/14) and drove to NLR to meet Brouke, who we were gonna follow. We met up with her and left about 9:30am. I really didn’t know either on of them very well, but we got along pretty good. Brouke is a ZTA here and she drove very slow on the way down, but she had the map and I really didn’t want to get lost! We stayed in Tallahassee that night with one of Brouke’s mom’s friends. Besides, my butt really hurt from all that sitting.

We got to Orlando by about 1:00pm after getting a little disoriented on I-4. But, eventually we found our way. My apartment was huge and on the 3rd floor. No. 1512, to be exact at the Vista Way Apartments -- 13501 Meadowcreek Drive -- Orlando, FL 32821. There we go! When I got checked in and all, I went to my room. My American roommate had already checked in and put some of his stuff away and left. I did see an English guy named John. He was on his way back after spendin a year at the Disney dream. Fernando, my French roommate for awhile, was there. He was short, 29, and had some wild skin pigmentation deficiency. He spoke French, Spanish, Portuguese and English. He worked in EPCOT’s French Pavilion. Fenn, my Norwegian roomie, was tall, blonde and about 25 years-old. Then there was Alex from Mexico who was 22 and Robert from Southern Mississippi and he was 19. Anyway, more on them later.

We had a brief orientation on the living aspect of Vista Way, ya know, rules and regulations, etc. Then the first week, Disney’s training class began, TRADITIONS I. This included a brief overview of Disney’s background and stuff. Then there was SHOWMANSHIP which taught us all how to be good little cast members and enjoy our work and put on a good show. I remember that was the first day we all got to meet Mickey Mouse. We all felt so important! We did a little skit after cruising around EPCOT to find examples of bad show. We were really disorganized and I got stressed out and threw a little temper tantrum in front of my small group. A girl, Christianne, who was tryin’ to hit on me I think, freaked out and no one in the group talked for awhile. We did our skit and I acted like the lady from SNL that does “like butter.” It was hilarious and it made me feel better. Plus a lot of people remembered me later down the road from that. Then, it was on to work.

My first official day as a Custodial Host at EPCOT Center. I knew all the trivia Disney liked to provide and I was ready for training. I got trained by a guy named Jeff for restaurant and a guy named Dan for streets. It was cool. The title sounds really stupid, I know, but it was an excellent experience. I worked in all the pavilions, my favorites being Norway (the women, you know) and then probably France. I hate Morocco. There was this weird chick that kept hitting on me, calling and coming over. She smelled so bad and she was so weird and ugly. Her name was Fatna, I think. She wanted to suck me! Grrr!

So, I like a lot of the Canadians too. They were really nice and pretty. I didn’t like working Futureworld too much though. Too many people and too much trash. I met some great people, though. Laura from Bowling Green, Kentucky, was my absolute favorite. The others were Heather, Chris, Trent, Terrence, Kevin and some whiny chick named Terri. I really miss Laura. We talk about moving to Atlanta together.

Anyway, more on her later. I saw John Ritter and Kriss Kross when they filmed a 4th of July special at the park. It was good. I saw Doogie Howser at Disney/MGM one day. I saw John Davidson another day, Rita Moreno another day and the guy that sings the Love Boat theme song another time. The All American College Orchestra was out there everyday too and IllumiNations was wicked every night. That was the laser/light show. Well, I gotta wrap this up now.

Maybe I’ll type some more later!

Toe Pick!

April 27, 1992

Alright! Now it’s Monday once again and I’m as happy as a little girl.

I worked on my PR project all day Saturday and I got it all laid out and took it to Kinko’s and got it copied and colored and it looks really good. I am proud of it and I hope I get an A. It deserves an A at least!

Anyway, then on Saturday night I called up Lady and invited her over to watch “Saturday Night Live.” The Open Channel had live call-ins on the “Lance & Skippy Show” so Pasty and I took turns prank calling them. Man, it sure is fun! I got on like 7 or 8 times. I couldn’t stop laughing! Anyway, Lady came over and we watched SNL and somehow she convinced me to go see The Cutting Edge with her. Oh, she really had to twist my arm on that one! It was a pretty decent flick! She dropped me off and that was it. On Sunday we went to her sorority awards banquet. We dressed up and had dinner at the Hilton. I just had a good time being with her. Then we went to Muley’s and had a couple of drinks together. We talked and stuff. She really is a cool girl. Then she brought me back to the house and I kissed her goodnight. I liked it! Man, did I like it. She even bought me a present. She went to the Disney store in Little Rock and got me a mug and a little Mickey Mouse character. I was really impressed. She’s a romantic, even if she is a little self-insecure-wanna-break-out. There we go with the hyphenated words again. I’m gonna miss her this summer. Anyway, I called her after house duties and asked her to brunch on Sunday at LJ’s for Mimosa’s. She’s just precious! Oooh! I have to stop thinking about her, but I can’t. But what about Janice?! That whole thing reeks.

So, today I have to get busy on my Ad Copy/Layout project for TAB. I have to come up with a slogan and a way to reach my target audience effectively. Well, I guess I’ll go grab some killer tunes and then go work on my project all day. I really could use a Tab. I think I’ll call Opinionated for a ride, or let some poor schlep at the house take me to the bank and to Harp’s! I guess I could pay on my DWI as well!

Later on, world!

Sin Azucar! Sin Cafeina!

April 25, 1992

Well, a few things have happened, I guess, that are worthy of typing in! Anyway, it’s Saturday and it’s a beautiful day! What happened Wednesday?! Well, I went to work. I’m so sick of it. I barely made any money! Grr. Then I went to the Library and looked up some background information on Tab for my campaign. Then on Thursday I don’t really remember what I did besides work. It must have been a lame day. On Wednesday I laid out on the roof and caught a savage burn. I have a decent tan startin’ up.

On Friday, Janice and I and Royace and Opinionated went floatin’ down the Buffalo from Pruitt to Hasty. The weather wasn’t great, but I had fun. The river was up! I drank a lot of beer! Well, now it’s Saturday and I slept over at Janice’s last night. I talked to Lady on Thursday night and she kinda hinted around that she knew about the float trip. Oh well. Here’s the dilemma. I think I still like Lady. Oooh! She’s a lot of fun. I think we’re better off as friends, but I’m also gettin’ tired of Janice. It was kinda novel and first, but now it’s just a pain in the ass. I’m leaving soon for Orlando, and I don’t want any ties... except Lady! Oooh!

Well, I’m in DPS now getting ready to work on my final project. I’d rather be laying out or doing something outside, but grades come first. Man, I’m ready for school to be out. Now I’m listening to Wish by the Cure.

The keyboard can’t keep up with my fingers for some reason. Now, there it’s working. I also have Pearl Jam Ten and The Church Gold Afternoon Fix to listen to. Well, time to get busy! Later on!

Early to Rise... Early to Bed...

April 22, 1992

It’s Wednesday, and it’s a very nice day. Let’s see... last night I went to work. I only made $100 in pledges and it wasn’t a lot of fun. I sure am burned out on that job. I don’t think I am going to do it again next year if I can help it! Oh well, it’s almost over. After work I went to the library and looked up some background information on Tab for my campaign. All the stuff was on microfilm! How old! I wasn’t really sure how to use it, but I eventually figured it out! Oh well, I need to go back again tonight! Whee!

I also have to work! Whee! Lady called last night and asked me to her Kappa Delta awards banquet or something. I told her I’d go. Whee! We talked last night about the Brady Bunch and Alice and a bunch of shows that were on when we were little. Apparently I watched too much TV as a kid cuz I remember every TV show theme song and even some shows no one has ever heard of! Gee!

Anyway, I smoked a cigar and listened to the Cure on the front porch yesterday. It was mellow. Oh, the night before last Canada and I pranked the Open Channel. Canada asked the guy on the show if he’d ever: 1. Smoked crack, 2. Smoked pot, 3. Dropped acid, 4. Sucked a dick. The guy went nuts! It was hilarious.

Let’s see... nothin’ much to say I guess! I went to the infirmary today to get my prescription on MaxAir refilled for the last time. I need to go to an allergist, I guess. The phone company called today and said they were going to cut off my phone if we didn’t pay. I put a check in the mail! Grr... I don’t have that kind of money! Everyone needs to pay up!

I’m gettin’ ready to go to Advanced PR and goof off for an hour. After class, I’m goin’ up on the roof and lay out until dinner. I need some sun! Like I’m not going to get enough in Orlando this summer! Shright! Welp, I have just enough time to do a quick spell check and then go to class! I’ve almost typed over 10,000 words in this journal. How cheezy-cool-brainy! I think I like words with lots of hyphens!

Excellent!

"There's loads of other stuff can make you yell..."

April 21, 1992

Well, the Cure and Beastie Boys both came out today. I haven't really listened to much of either yet because of time. I just got out of graphics and it was really stressful. I had no idea what I was doing with the layouts! Oh well!

Yesterday afternoon, I called Lady to say "Whazzup!" and we wound up going to Hasting's together to return my movies. We stopped by Payless Shoes and saw Snaggletooth. Ugly little fuck, she is, but she's nice. Anyway, we wound up going to the arcade to play a couple of games. Lady thought she could take me on the ancient, yet still-fun-for-some-reason Ms. Pac Man. I killed her! Hee-hee! She seems to be very competitive about trivial stuff. Then we played The Simpsons. We almost finished it, but we ran out of money and time. About 5:00pm we left and I went to eat dinner and she went about her business.

We had chapter and formal association. I wore a coat/tie and shorts. Fuck 'em, I was stylin'. If you can't do what you wanna do, why bother, ya know? I mean, I went to E.C. to say I wanted a house bill reduction for being there for so long. I told 'em I wasn't happy with the house and the way things were going and that it was cheaper to move out than live in a fraternity house that is shitty. They pretty much told me to fuck off! I may move out. I gotta be me. I don't want to lose my friends, but if I move out and then they aren't my friends after that, then they never really were my friends anyway, right?! That's the way the old adage goes, I guess.

I talked to Opinionated and Janice on the phone last night and asked Janice to our float trip thing this weekend. I sure hope the weather is nice. Royace told me he and his girlfriend (or whatever she is) got in a fight yesterday afternoon. Oh well. I'm hungry, but I don't know for what. The food at the house is getting shittier and shittier. Doyle's just some white trash piece of fuck that makes shitty food. Better than nothin', I suppose.

I'm ready for Walt Disney World. I need to fill all that shit out, and I need to pay my phone bill. Grrr! The brake pads on my car are gettin' shitty! I'm not supposed to be driving, but hey, what the hell... I'm such a rebel. I read the lyrics on the new Cure tape. Man, there's some cool words. I wish I could write like that. Oh well, I'll dedicate my life to it.

I have to work tonight so there really isn't much goin' on. I guess I'll go to the library and do some research on my Ad Copy/Layout biz tonight. I gotta take a rude shit now, so I'll wrap it up! Later on and shit. I cuss too much!

Squirrel!

April 20, 1992

Well, here it is Monday again! Whee! It's soo difficult to find times to write!

Anyway, yesterday was Easter, but a lot of things have happened since then. Wednesday night Opinionated and I finished our campaign for The Walton Arts Center. We didn't get done until 3:00am and I was bushed! I skipped OB that day, but I figured I had a good excuse. I finished up all I could at DPS before class and then we did our presentation at 1:30 and after that it was just a nice load off!

Opinionated and I picked up Janice and we went to Cafe for a few drinks. We met Carla and Julie there and talked and got a good buzz. Anyway, after that, we went back to the LCA house and then to Opinionated's and had some beers. We then went to Maxine's and had more beer. Right now the very thought of beer makes my stomach hurt. Anyway, we played some Ding-Ding (the little bowling game Maxine’s is so famous for) and talked. Cawdry showed up! Whee! Opinionated doesn't like Cawdry, but ya never know! Anyway, Opinionated was gettin' tired so she dropped the three of us off at My Pleasure. To make a long story short, I wound up shackin' with Janice. We listened to some U2 and then mugged and she gave me a ride home the next morning at about 9:30am. It's good to shack... once in a while, right?! Right!

I felt crappy all day Friday. We tried to go to Cafe again as a group, but I got sick there. I came home and got sick there too. Meanwhile, while I passed out in my bed in my own room, someone came in and stole all my beer, poured my ice chest out all over the floor and poured talcum powder in my backpack. Exactly why I want to move out of the house! Man! It's insane!

Anyway! I hung out with Opinionated all day Saturday. We rented Whore and Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead. It was an alright time. Put me back on my feet! I have to get those movies back tonight!

Royace came over and watched Babysitter with us, and then we watched Saturday Night Live (it's a ritual for me). I went home at midnight, but cool Roy stayed over until 7:30am! Sheesh!

I got a wild hair up my butt and decided I wanted to go see Pearl Jam in Dallas at the Starplex on Easter, so I invited Cawdry and Tippy and we went! We left at noon on Easter in my car. Tippy drove. We didn't know what time the concert started, we just went. It turned out that after a 6 hour drive, the event was a daylong festival for Earth Day called "EdgeFest '92". The SugarCubes, Charlatans UK, Dramarama and Pearl Jam were all there, and various others. The tickets were only $10. What (as Eddie Murphy would say) a bargain!

We rove back to Fayetteville as soon as it was over, stopping at Taco Bueno in McKinney, TX, of course. The food sucks! We got home at about 3:30am and I crashed. I skipped Ad Copy/Layout today, but now I'm in the PR room typing this. Whee!

Well, I'm still tired of the house and the people. My door has no lock cuz Canada kicked it in while I was out! Fucker! Squirrel! I want to whip out my squirrel! Anyway, gotta bolt. Stuff to do and say! The new Cure and Beastie Boys are supposed to be out either today or tomorrow! I'm so excited, brah! Later!

All right, stop! Collaborate and listen.

April 15, 1992

Oooh! It's officially Tax Day '92, and I need to get mine mailed off! It's also DWI Day '92. My court date was today. Although I didn't have to go, it was stressful. My lawyer took care of it all. I have to pay $834.25 and my license is suspended for 90 days, same as cash! Corny?! I think so!

Today I have to go work on my Ad Copy/Layout campaign at Sonya's! Oh for joy! Last night it was D-Mac and Pope Jr.'s B-day's. A few of us wound up going to Tremors to see a stripper show. It was pretty cool. I got some big tits rubbed in my face and a good ass rubbed on my lap! It was cool. Man, this is where it gets weird.

Lady came by Opinionated's while we were working on our campaign. She just stopped by to say "hi" and then left. I called her later and asked her if she wanted to do something. She said she'd call me later. Well, I went to see the strippers, and when I called her back she was acting really goofy. I don't know what her deal was. It was confusing, perhaps a bit scary! I don't know if I want to go out with her now. I don't like to feel jealous like that, if that's what I was feeling. It was more of an inferior feeling. Almost like she didn't care if she talked to me again or not.

I'm leaving in 3 weeks anyway, but I'd like to keep seeing her. If not, I'll get over it. I always do. I'm not going to talk to her unless she makes an effort. I just want to be loved... is that so wrong?! Oh well, maybe so.

I skipped my Ad Copy/Layout class this morning to go sign some papers with my lawyer. I also got my car inspected. Exxon wouldn't do it cuz they're asswipes, so I went to Texaco! They did it in about 5 minutes. Cool! Oh, another thing. Last night, Pope and I went to Spe-Dee Mart to buy a bag of ice since the ice maker at the house is broken. As Pope put the bag in his trunk and we started to back up, some friggy-diggy Hillbilly in a black truck blocked us in. I looked at him like he was some sort of idiot, and he was, and he asked us if we paid for the ice. We said we did and he gave us some spiel about how his sister works there and he thought we were stealing. What a waste of sperm. He was a load that should have been swallowed!

Anyway, Sam Kinison died the other day in a weird car wreck. People are already starting Geraldo-like rumors about how he spoke with God before he died. His friend was holding Sam in his arms and Sam was going like, "Why? Why? Ok. Ok. Ok. I'll go!" How immortally queer.

It's a nice day out today. I don't think I'm going home for Easter. I may just stay here and drink a lot of beer and lay out on the roof. I made an appointment with the Ozark Guidance Center on May 7 for some alcohol thing. It was a court order so I have to go, I guess! Blah!

I'm sooo ready to go to Walt Disney World I could puke! I'm tired of the fraternity, my friends, and the Fayetteville attitude. Man! Too much white-trash! I mean seriously, who wants to drive a pick-up by choice? Is that cool? I think not! Well, gotta go buy a road-pop, figure out my tax stuff, mail some shit and go! Well, I guess I'll do it right now. I'm thinking about calling Emily's friend, Trisha. She was pretty damn cute! Welp! Later on!
